Jennifer Freye, Soprano

MEET JENNIFER, she is new to the Central Coast and is enjoying meeting and working with the talented musical community.

LOCAL FEATURES: Her most recent main stage engagement was covering the role of Nettie Fowler and performing in the ensemble in Opera San Luis Obispo’s production of Carousel. Jennifer will be the featured soloist for the Lompoc Pops Orchestra for their Spring 2023 Concert. A recent honor was singing the National Anthem at the Honorary Commanders Breakfast as well as other retirement ceremonies at Vandenberg Space Force Base. She was a soloist in the Lompoc Valley Master Chorale in 2021 and continues as a soloist for Lompoc United Methodist and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY: In 2017 Jennifer had the opportunity to sing her first Brünnhilde, covering the role in Wagner’s Siegfried with Valhalla Productions, a regional opera company in San Francisco. She has also performed the role of Sieglinde in Wagner’s Die Walküre with Verismo Opera and the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni for Opera of California in San Francisco. Some of her other performing highlights included roles such as Freia in Wagner’s Das Rheingold with Verismo Opera, Magda in Menotti’s The Consul with IVAI, Montreal in their Grand Finale Scenes Concert, Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci under the baton of Curt Pajer with Verismo Opera, and First Handmaiden in West Bay Opera’s production of Turandot. Other credits include: title roles in Cendrillon, Susannah, Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), and Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Charlemagne Orchestra under the direction of Conductor Bartholomeus-Henri Van de Velde in Belgium. She is a two-time finalist of the NATS festival, professional division as well as a finalist in the Young Stars of the Future competition and was a Festival Artist with the Intimate Opera Company in Pasadena, CA.

EDUCATION: Jennifer holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in voice from California State University, Fullerton.

MUSIC STUDIO

Jennifer has been teaching private lessons at music schools and from her home studio since 2008. She is currently accepting new students.

VOICE: Jennifer teaches up to advanced voice. For beginners to professionals, she concentrates on strengthening the voice through teaching legato singing, striving for evenness throughout the entire range, and aiming to find an approach comfortable for the student to be tension free and achieve optimal sound.

PIANO: Jennifer teaches beginning piano, focusing on finger placement, note values, beats, bars, rests, tempo, melody, and reading music.
